Tea Party has a discussion developing about the Kraft Foods boycott. One of her readers writes:

My mom has been on her boycot of kraft for 20+ years, from back hen Mrs. magazine called for it because they were providing powered milk for kids and encoraging their use over breast milk in third world countries where there was no clean water to mix it with. They estimate the deaths were in the tens of millions.

The problem is they have tons of umbrella of Starbucks, Carnation, purina, Yuban, Maxwell House, Kool-Aid, Countrey Time, Crystal Light, Tang, Oscar Mayer, Lunchables, Toumbstone, Velveeta, Grey Poupon, Cream of Wheat, Milk Bone, Jell-O, Cool Whip, Claussen, Post (which makes every breakfast cereal), A1, Stove Top, Barnum's Animals, Newtons, Nillas, Oreos, Teddy Grahms, Ritz, Triscut, Wheat thins, Planters, Altoids, Toblerone, Life Savers and of course Kraft. Among others.

Many times companies make really dumb mistakes when moving into a foreign market. Take Wal-Mart, for example. Wal-Mart put one of its Super Stores in a country where people just don't buy in bulk. That location had to be closed because Wal-Mart wasn't making any money. Sometimes, the powers-that-be aren't always good at guaging the success of a product or service introduced to a foreign market. I'm thinking that was the case with Kraft and the powered milk incident.

What we are dealing with here is the religious right and their bullying tactis. Don't let them keep Kraft from supporting the Gay Games. Call Kraft and offer your support. You can also sign the petition to show support.

To Whom It May Concern,

In today's day and age, i'm surprised that so many people are still so unaccepting of others who to them, are perceived as different. Especially when coming from groups who claim to accept and love everybody equally. Why so much hate?!? I understand that you are a proud sponser of the 2006 Chicago Gay Games, and you should be proud. Despite the fact that others will protest, please stand strong and hold your position and know that others will help support you in your stand for what you believe to be right. If the "AFA is calling on pro-family supporters to boycott Kraft Foods", i will counter that with my own personal support for your company and your products.

Keep up the great work and remain couragous.

Culture Wars in Corporate America

Business Week has a great article on culture wars in corporate America, discussing Microsoft's flip flop on gay rights after the company was bullied by an evangelical minister. A petition circulated within the organization convinced Microsoft to renew its support of a gay rights bill the company had decided to no longer support.

Hopefully, a show of support from the LGBT community and our allies will help us convince Kraft Foods to stay the course and continue the company's tradition of suppporting diversity and equality.

AFA Using OneMillionMoms.com to Push Kraft Boycott

One Millions Moms and One Million Dads are two websites used by the AFA to encourage people to boycott Kraft. Looks like Old Navy is a target also.

The language of these websites reads like a soccer mom version of the God Hates Fags site.

Illinois Family Institute Calls for Kraft Boycott

The Chicagoist mentions the Illinois Family Institute is also calling for a Kraft boycott:

By allowing their corporate logos to be used to promote the "Gay Games," Kraft, Harris Bank and other sponsoring companies are celebrating wrong and destructive behaviors, and showing their disdain for the majority of Americans who favor traditional morality and marriage.

I guess these people are ignoring the fact that gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people have families too.

SUPPORT KRAFT FOODS EFFORT LAUNCHED TO COUNTER AMERICAN FAMLY ASSOCIATION ATTACK

Madison, WI -- May 13, 2005

The American Family Association (AFA) recently attacked Kraft Foods in
an effort to force the company to pull its financial support from Gay
Games Chicago 2006. The AFA is calling on pro-family supporters to
boycott Kraft Foods until the company pulls its financial support from
Gay Games Chicago. The AFA recently boycotted Proctor & Gamble because
the company advertised during television shows that featured gay
characters.

Millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans purchase
Kraft products on an annual basis. The "Support Kraft Foods" blog was
launched on May 12, 2005 to show the power of the gay dollar and to
demand that religious extremists cease their continuous bullying
tactics. We wish to also show Kraft Foods and other corporations
that the LGBT community will stand behind them when they choose to
offer their financial support for such unique events like the Gay
Games.

The "Support Kraft Foods" blog will be a central point for news and
updates on the AFA's continued efforts to bully Kraft Foods and other
corporations into submission. Our first goal is to launch a massive
phone-in and letter writing campaign to show our support for Kraft
Foods. We will plan additional activities as the situation develops.

Support Kraft Foods

The American Family Association (AFA) has launched an effort designed to force Kraft Foods to pull its financial support from the 2006 Gay Games:

A Wall Street Journal article revealed the success of the last AFA boycott of Proctor & Gamble for that company’s support for same-sex marriage legislation and for spending of millions of dollars in advertising on homosexual oriented television. The AFA told WSJs Alan Murray that, “360,000 families signed petitions to boycott P&G products. Subsequently, P&G's advertising disappeared from gay magazines and Web sites and gay-oriented television shows.”

The AFA is urging all concerned to take action: “Tell Kraft to drop their corporate sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago,” Wildmon urged. “Kraft is ignoring emails. Please make a personal phone call to Kraft and tell them to pull their financial support from the 2006 Gay Games.”

We must work together to show the religious extremists that this kind of bullying will not be tolerated. Please join our efforts by:
